GET INVOLVED!

ABOUT THIS PAGE: This “Get Involved” page shares ideas and resources from individual members of our group about non-partisan, peaceful, and lawful ways people can participate in civic life in our community. This content is informational only and does not represent official positions, endorsements, or statements of Friends of Democracy.

AMIGOS AND AMIGAS! Don't miss this fabulous community event brought to you by our Mam friends and ROP. Free food, raffles, and live marimba music—wear your dancin' shoes! No Spanish necessary to join the celebration. If you would like to staff a table with free info packets and PIRC/ECO bracelets, please email Lise at liseinthegrove@msn.com—you will need conversational-level Spanish for this.

Would you believe we have 728 signatures!? I’m blown away! Trying to reach a goal of 800. We need as much support at the budget committee meeting tomorrow the 19th at City Hall at 6pm.

If you can’t attend in person, you can attend virtually at The City of Cottage Grove’s YouTube channel. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScNe2eLC2gBG1HSAPotzFRP6rJNEIjzq6vuBcoEutfUjnTEAQ/viewform

A coordinated set of federal policy changes and legislative efforts is underway that could dramatically reshape how our public lands are managed—potentially increasing logging by 4X and rolling back long-standing protections. These changes threaten some of our most treasured places, including old-growth forests near Cottage Grove, the trails and waterfalls around Alsea Falls, the ecosystems of Mary's Peak, and iconic areas like the Valley of the Giants. Beyond the loss of scenery, these shifts will impact wildlife habitat, clean water, wildfire risk, and the long-term health of our forests. Many of these decisions are being made with limited public awareness—but they are not a done deal. YOUR voice & actions matter. Read the presentation made by Oregon Wild HERE, Read notes from the Oregon Wild presentation HERE, start organizing with others by signing up with the PNW Forest Climate Alliance and pay attention to upcoming comment periods by getting on Oregon Wild's email list HERE, contact elected officials, and participate in local meetings through the Action Center. The future of these landscapes depends on people showing up, speaking out, and staying engaged. Sample letters to Wyden/Merkley, Hoyle, County Commissioners

Community Voices

Hear from our passionate supporters advocating for democracy and equality.

I’m unable to attend Wednesday meetings. Email updates and the website calendar keep me informed of opportunities to participate in rallies, vigils, special projects and on committees when I can. Lots of ways to get involved to preserve our democracy for our children and grandchildren!

Cottage Grove Resident

Joining Cottage Grove Friends of Democracy has inspired me to advocate for equality and justice. Their dedication to the Constitution and Bill of Rights is truly inspiring and necessary for our community.
